Feeling “Off”? Here’s What It Could Mean Energetically

You have felt it before. When things feel, not right. You might not be able to explain it - but it doesn’t feel normal. You say, “Oh something is off.”

As you look a little deeper, you realize that you might be feeling:

  • more emotional

  • unmotivated and tired

  • foggy or scattered

  • disconnected from your usual spark

  • easily overwhelmed by small things

  • like your not truly present in your life

You might notice some of these things, but not really know why you’re feeling off. Over time, you have been seeing this as a pattern in your life because things aren’t moving or working for you like they used to.

It is easy to jump to conclusions and think you need to fix something.

I want to let you know this: there is actually nothing wrong with you.

What you are experiencing or feeling is not a problem. It is a signal. And it is asking for your attention.

Feeling “Off” Means Something Is Under-Supported

Most of the time, feeling ‘off’ is your energy telling you something is under-supported.

What this usually signals to the body is that something needs to be fixed and quickly. This is a conditioned response from the world you live in.

Try harder.
Push through it.
Get back on track.
Find the hack.
Reset. Reset. Reset.

But most of the time, feeling off isn’t a mindset issue. It’s an internal message.

A subtle message from within your body and soul.
Something needs support. Something needs replenishing. Something needs space.

This signal isn’t something that needs to crash your whole system. In fact, you can tell it’s not a collapse because it often starts as something quiet. Subtle. Almost hard to explain.

Just that gentle sense of something being off.

Sometimes that’s your system’s way of asking you to slow down long enough to listen so you can bring yourself back into balance and back into rhythm.

How to Know What’s Under-Supported

Here are a few of the most common energetic patterns I see when someone is feeling under-supported.

  1. Your energy is scattered

This is what happens when your energy is being pulled from all different directions. This can be from responsibilities, decisions, pressure and information.

You could be doing a lot and not really connected to what you are doing.

When your energy is scattered, it is harder to access: clarity, intuition, desire, direction and peace.

You could be feeling like you are thinking all the time and not really hearing yourself.

  2. Your system is depleted

Depletion is when your inner resources has been drained. This could be more than just exhaustion. Its as if your life force energy is no longer running through the body. You may be present but not fully there.

Ways depletion can show up as: needing more rest than usual, low energy in the mornings, emotionally drained after simple tasks, feeling uninspired and even craving something without knowing what it is.

This is a clear sign that you have been giving more of yourself than you’ve been receiving.

  3. You’re carrying too much

You take on more than you can handle and don’t have support to delegate things too. You aren’t meant to carry everything.

Sometimes carrying too much can also mean: that you are holding onto things that aren’t even yours. Like other people and their challenges as if they were yours to deal with.

This negatively impacts your energy and how you feel.

  4. Your in a transition

There is a change happening in your life. Big or small. A shedding or recalibration is happening for you. This could be why you are feeing off.

You are moving into new territory, releasing the old, embracing something new. You are evolving.

With this evolution, your body and soul are asking for you to make a shift. A different rhythm, one that move with this new evolution of you.

Transitions often feel like being between tides — not lost, just not anchored yet.

What To Do When You Realize What’s Under-Supported

I want to put you at ease here. If you are feeling under-supported, I would like to give you 3 steps you can take to put your mind and ease and begin to listen to your body. You don’t need to fix anything right away. This is a time to listen to the signal your body is giving you.

  1. Stop asking, “What is wrong with me.”

Let’s shift the question to: What is asking for support right now.

  2. Name what “off” feels like

What is the sentation that you are feeling. Not the story behind the sensation.

    • Heaviness in the chest

    • Fogginess in the mind

    • Tightness in the belly

    • Relentlessness

When you can name the sensation, it creates space.

  3. Give yourself some energetic support

Notice what your body needs. It doesn’t have to be big.

    • Stepping outside and putting your feet on the earth or breathing in the air

    • Sitting in silence for a few minutes

    • Putting your hand on your heart and saying, “It’s Ok”

    • Letting yourself cry without analysing it

    • Drinking or eating something slowing, with intention

Something small is how you return back to yourself.

When you are off, its tempting to what to make huge changes. But most people don’t need change. They need clarity. That is what happens when you can stop, tune in and listen to where you may be under-supported.
